For a class I had to write a topical essay on any subject. I chose EDM music. Here it is.
Electronic Music
Electronic music is a type of music created in France. There are multiple forms that electronic music can take, different sub-genres exist within it. Unlike other types of music, electronic music is created using mostly a computer.
Although you may not have realized it, you’ve probably heard some form of electronic music at one point or another. It is best understood if we first define different parts of its music.
Electronic music was created in 1948 in Paris. Although nowadays we use just a computer to create it, back then people would splice different sounds together from recording. Times really have changed, haven’t they? Electronic music has many different sub-genres and although it’s not super important to know all of them, I am going to mention a couple. Dubstep is one such genre, by taking electronic music and lowering the beats per minute to 70, you can create a slower tempo that makes the lead “Instruments” you use sound faster. This is why DJs like Skrillex use fast lead synths, to make the song sound faster than it actually is. House is another genre of electronic music that consists of a four-on-the-floor beat pattern, which is when you have a kick, followed by a hi-hat, followed by a snare, followed by another hi-hat. This is then repeated to give it that fast and funky feel.
Electronic music may not have been super influential in the music industry, but it sure is fun to dance to.

February Wrap-Up
Books I read:
The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown
Not my favorite book but it did have a very interesting segment that I really enjoyed. I still recommend.
1,2,3,4,5
Catcher In The Rye - J. D. Salinger
This book is a classic, so I kind of had to read it. It's still not one of my favorites.
1,2,3,4,5
Goliath - Tom Gauld
This book is soooo good. It tells the story of Goliath from the Bible. It's drawings are super simple and it's a really quick read. It has a very sad sudden ending, as you would have guessed. I really recommend.
1,2,3,4,5
Ready Player One - Ernest Cline
I wanted to read it with the movie coming out and I enjoyed it, not my favorite, but I enjoyed the 80s references.
1,2,3,4,5
Movies I watched
Roman Holiday
I wrote a review of it here.
1,2,3,4,5
Theater I Attended
Beautiful
I can officially say that I'm not a huge fan of Jukebox musicals, between this and Mama Mia. I only recommend this to people who like Carol King, because it was very dull.
