October Wrap-Up

This is my first wrap-up post, but I will be doing one every month.

Books I read:

Bera The One-Headed Troll - Eric Orchard

1,2,3,4,5

This month was pretty graphic novel heavy, and this one was pretty good, but not one of my favorites. It's about a kind troll who finds a human baby, and has to find an adventurer to help her take it to the human land.

Fish Girl - David Wiesner

1,2,3,4,5

This graphic novel is mostly pictures. It's about a girl who is in an aquarium, but she's a mermaid. It's a simple story about figuring out your life, ya know, stuff like that.

Snow White - Matt Phelan

1,2,3,4,5

This was one of my favorites this month. It is a Film Noir Snow White graphic novel. Matt Phelan has such a great art style and this is one of his best.

Refugee - Alan Gratz

1,2,3,4,5

This is a novel with 3 different refugee stories based on true events. I liked the story but the overall writing could have used some work.

Level Up - Gene Luen Yang

1,2,3,4,5

This book is about a gamer that goes to college. His dad died when he was younger, and now he is visited by spirits to get him back on track in his life. It has a bit of a different ending then most books about gamers and I really enjoyed it.

Swing It Sunny - Jennifer L. Holm

1,2,3,4,5

This book is the sequal to Sunny Side Up. I liked the first one a lot more than this one, but it was still pretty good.

Movies/Theater I attended:

Fun Home (Musical)

1,2,3,4,5

Giving this a four out of five is no lie, this was a really great musical. I attended it with some friends and my family. It was funny at times, but it was also really sad. It had catchy music that stayed in your head for days, and great characters. I was really impressed. It was also put on by a small little theater company, so I was surprised at the amazing acting.

RWBY Volume 5 Launch

1,2,3,4,5

RWBY is an Anime created by Rooster Teeth, it is one of my favorite shows, and I had the pleasure of seeing the launch of the new season in theaters.
-

New Games I Enjoyed:

Cuphead

1,2,3,4,5

Ok, where do I even begin. Cuphead is the greatest game I've played all year. The game itself is an homage to 1930s era cartoons. (It even has the crackly screen look.) The music was performed by an actual big band, and they were able to capture the image perfectly. I highly recommend this game. The gameplay itself is a mix of Boss Fight, Platform, and Bullet Hell. This game is also extremely hard, so remember to not break your computer while playing this.
-

Dead By Daylight - A Nightmare On Elm Street DLC

1,2,3,4,5

The game Dead By Daylight has quickly become one of my favorites. The game is kind of like a Slasher Movie simulator, where you can either be a killer or survivor, and try to kill/escape. It's really fun, and the developers of the game actually care about their community, which is rare to come across. A Downladable Content that was added to the game for Halloween, was the Nightmare on Elm Street pack. It adds Quentin and Freddy Krueger, from the NOES movies. The only reason I gave this pack a 4, was because Freddy was released a bit weak, and they are decided to make him weaker, but I'm sure they will realize their mistake soon enough.

Obsessions I gained:

Musical Ghost - Cuphead Remixes

If you've read my blog for a while, you will know that I love The Musical Ghost, who is a DJ that remixes video game songs in an Electro Swing style. With the release of Cuphead, he started remixing some of the songs. Here is one of my favorite by him:

Other Things On My Mind:

Halloween

Halloween this year was pretty great. I dressed up as a genderbent Blake from RWBY. I went Trick-or-Treating with some friends, who also were cosplaying RWBY characters.

Gilmore Girls Fan Fest

This month we went to a fan festival for the show Gilmore Girls, which is not one of my favorite shows, but I still love it for the characters. (Along with other things.) But at the festival we got to meet some of the actors and actresses, included the actress who plays one of my favorite characters, Miss Patty.
