Massachusetts Visit

Last week we went to Massachusetts. We recently studied the Transcendentalist times, so we wanted to visit all that stuff in Concord. Before we left, we read and watched Little Women. We stayed at our grandmother's house while we were there. The first day we went to Concord. We went to Louisa May Alcott's house. We got a tour through it. It was really interesting.

After that, we went to lunch at a cute little diner. I got a spicy chicken sandwich. Then we went to the Concord Museum. There were all kinds of cool things there. We learned about he history of the Concord area, including a lot about the Transcendentalists. We went to the Old Manse after that, which is where Emerson lived for a while. Nathaniel Hawthorne also lived there at one time. We also got a tour of that house. After that, we went to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, where we saw the graves of Louisa May Alcott and her family, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Henry David Thoreau. After visiting the cemetery, we ended the day with a trip to Walden Pond, which was really pretty.

The next day we went to Boston. In Boston we took the T everywhere. The T is the name people use for the train in Boston. The first place we went was The Border Cafe, which had Mexican food. It was really good. Then we went to Harvard, which was really cool. It was super big. We also listened to some of the tours there. After that, we went to the Harvard Book Store and got some books. The store was really cool, but they were missing a Manga section . . .

We went to the Boston Commons. The Commons is a large park, similar to Central Park in New York City. While we were there, we were able to get within 2 feet of a squirrel! After that, we made kissy noises to the squirrels and they came running over! Then we went to the Boston Public Gardens, where we rode swan boats. The driver was peddling, so it must have been a work out! After that we left Boston.

Finally, on our last day, we went to the Museum of Science, which was HUGE! We got to see all kinds of cool stuff there! My favorite was the Hall of Human Life, where we got these wrist bands to scan at every station to save our data. We took tons of tests, and using the wristband, our results were saved. At the end we got to see our final work. After going around the museum for a while, we went to the Micheal Jackson laser light show there, which was cheesy but was so much fun.

The next day we left for home. I was really happy to be back with Scout.

I saw a ton of manga down in the basement of the bookstore! Did go down there?

The squirrels were so cute. I wish we could've given them some food. They looked so expectant.

Everybody was really happy to get Scout back. The trip was really fun, but that's a long time to go without seeing her.
